Boar Brush - Ruined?

Good evening everyone! This is my first post. I joined about a week ago and thought I'd join in the fun!

I've been DE shaving for about a year and I'm really enjoying myself. All in all, definitely feeling more like a man than when I was using a spray can and Mach 3!

I'll go introduce myself on the main board so I'll get to my brush question. I have a Semogue Boar that is giving me issues. I cleaned it the other day with Borax then a Vinegar/Water rinse finished with a conditioner. Now, it's not lathering at all.

Anyway, did I ruin the hairs so they don't absorb water anymore? Is there anything I can do to restore the brush?

Thanks!
Doug

Thanks. I did repeat the Borax and Vinegar twice. I would assume that should get the conditioner out? So if it's still not lathering well, do you have any other thoughts?

Well as Billy Madison would say, "shampoo is better!" I took the brush to my Ligget's shampoo bar. I gave it a good rinse and lathered it up. Wow! The lather exploded in my mug!

Thanks for your help.

Doug

I find simple Dawn Dish Detergent will strip residue of whatever from the bristles...just the simple original formula.

+1 to this. I used to go through the whole routine with borax and vinegar and found this works better and quicker for regular brush cleaning. Figured it can't be too harmful, since they make much of it being used to clean oil spill birds and all.
