OK, for this last poll, we want to know if you would buy this brush :biggrin1:. We want to accurately gauge interest and have an idea what sort of quantities we're looking at.

The current "solid" specs for the brush are:
- A 24mm knot
- Cream bristles
- Premium hair grade if Semogue manufacturers it. Omega only offers one grade of Hog hair.
- An acrylic handle with a dark blue body and a clear or pearl bottom (depending on manufacturer capability/willingness)
- Priced at $50 or less

i'm in for 'maybe 1'. under $50 is a large range. i understand this is a custom brush, but $50 for a boar is a bit much for me. when you figure out exactly how much, i'll have a better answer. btw, just for reference i voted for <$35 in the previous poll.

Soren! Haven't seen you around in a while. How's your 2000 been treating you, in comparison to the Victoria brush?

+1 Keen to try a better boar but the closer it gets to $50, the more critical I'll be about simple aesthetics (color, handle, etc). Plus, the closer to $50, the more I think about upgrading my badger, which is totally not the point of the exercise.

I am wanting to give a Boar Brush another go. So, definitely count me in for at least one. Maybe two depending on the final cost

I am definitely in for at least one. I may be in for two, depending on how it comes out and what the cost ends up being.

I like the way it is shaping up! :thumbup1:

+1 The 09 Semogue LE was just under $50, as long as it were around that price or less I would probably get one.

I'm definitely want a high quality, cusotmer boar brush. I have enough silvertip badger brushes. Sign me up for one.

I've been wanting a boar brush, so this is timely! Due to other commitments the best I can say now is, "probably!"

It is good (but not better ).
I'm thinking of making a direct comparison (and include the Omega 10005) now that all brushes are broken in - if nothing else, just for the fun of it :001_smile

I'll start by saying I don't mean to sound patronising although it might come along like it, but it can be difficult to express something without the body language and tone of voice - and in writing it can seem harder than it is meant. So please don't be offended.

As a thread in here stated; a brush is a brush and a soap is a soap etc. - and the bottom line is; it's true.
You don't need more than one razor, one soap/cream and one brush to have a good shave. But some of us like the variety and the opportunity to choose (I'm guessing most people in here, why else be a member? :biggrin1:).

In my (ongoing :blushing:) collection of way too many brushes my experience so far is:

  • The most versatile hair is boar; it makes lather with ease no matter if I'm using cream or hard soap.
I can make the same lather with all types of hair, but a Silvertip will take more work on the hard soaps to get loaded.
  • When it comes to softness of the tips a Silvertip is the softest, followed by Super/Fine badger and (a broken in) boar which I think is on par, then Best badger and ending off with pure badger, which I find too scratchy.
  • When it comes to backbone, a boar brush has more backbone compared to a badger brush with similar loft height.

When I'm looking for brushes now, I (almost) only go for boars or Silvertips; I have totally discarded any Pure badger as they are no match for a boar brush.

And it is here I don't understand why people are willing to spend (sometimes a lot of) money on a badger brush, but are reluctant to spend on a quality boar brush.
Stuff that is handmade is more expensive and then it doesn't matter if the hair used is badger, boar, horse or something else.
And just to put things in relief; I was one of those persons myself when I started DE shaving, thinking a boar brush was cheap and probably not very good - I have changed my mind, they are way better than their reputation :001_smile

But I do understand and agree that if a brush costs $50, the quality of the entire brush has to be in top. I won't spend $50 on a boar brush with a machine cast plastic handle no matter the quality of the hairs and the "LE factor". In that case you can find better brushes on the market.

Hey, "Maybe" voters - is it the price thing?
The price, and the fact that many of my preferences have been voted down.

I'm not very optimistic that this is going to be a very good looking brush, or a brush that is going to fit my performance preferences based on the votes. I have been wrong before, however, and my purchasing decision is going to be based on whether I think the brush looks like it is worth what is being asked.

Interesting. I envision a handle like the Semo 620 and 830, but with blue instead of red or black. Should be pretty sharp actually.
