Blue Light Teeth Whitening System

Has anyone on the forum used a teeth-whitening system that uses a hydrogen peroxide gel along with some sort of light-emitting device that you place in your mouth? I am wondering if you had a good experience and whether or not it actually helped whiten your teeth. Any information would greatly be appreciated....Thank you.

I have used the home trays in combination with an in office visit and it worked wonders.

I have a feeling that the light the comes with those kits is really not powerful enough to do anything.

A B&B post stated that peroxide is not a healthy product to put in ones mouth. Has something to do with the killing of the good bacteria that resides there.

I kinda figured that much but I was hoping that maybe they did work. Thanks for the replys guys....

the lights are a gimmic the paste works without them

This. Hydrogen peroxide will definitely whiten your teeth. The light will do nothing. You can buy hydrogen peroxide at any pharmacy, and my guess is it would be a lot cheaper than this system you're talking about.

The Peroxide used in the kits is far stronger than peroxide available in liquid form OTC, plus when used with trays it has the benefit of localizing the peroxide/bleach to your dental enamel, and not spreading it through your mouth.

Peroxide as a mouthwash is what my dentist said you should avoid (I made the original comment about avoiding peroxide).

so maybe i'm not understanding the premise here, but if you're putting the light in your mouth, wouldn't it be behind your teeth and therefore whitening the parts that no one but your uvula will see?

I had good results with bleaching trays and whitener from my dentist, no light involved. I would err on the side of caution; who knows what the long-term effects are?

I stay away from tooth whitening systems. Some have been suspect to causing problems and I think the natural white of teeth looks better in many cases.

Thank you all for the further feedback. I do agree that the light is a gimmick, but I guess I wanted more input.......
