I've found Crystals, Gillette Silver Blues and Personna Labs to be the best performers in my Cadet OC. Astra SP, Gillette Rubies, Personna Barbers and WalMart Wilkinsons not so much. It might help if you let us know what razor you're using.
Gillette Silver blue work quite well for me in a Fatip or Joris. So do all the other Saint Petersburg blades that I have tried.* There are a bunch of other open comb razors out there though. I wish that I could say from experience how they perform in a Gillette New.
I find that the GSB's have worked well in a variety of razors, including a Gillette OC 1904 and New - very smooth, very forgiving, but not quite as close as I'd like. I usually bump a level in sharpness to the G 70 blacks or Polsiver SI. But if you used GSB's in other razors with success, I suspect you'll have the same results with your OC.
I don't understand why OCs should or could be a category of razors that behave somewhat similar, except of the ability to shear off long stubbles or even a "several months long" beard. There are very mild and also quite aggressive OCs.
That said, for me the GSBs are also forgiving without leaving the impression they would omit some stubbles due to lack of sharpness (right, they are sharp!), and perform extremely well in my R41. Although the GSBs skim my skin BBS also when in a Gillette Tech or Merkur 34c I prefer rougher blades (Feather, Astra) in those smoother razors because they take me in a easier way to where I want to be at the end of every shave (BBS).
