Goodfellas OC

@mkc1mjb, I've used the razor and Arko. The razor is remarkably smooth and mild and delivers a nice shave. Do others know some of the history with this particular Goodfellas OC razor? And the Arko... Wow, the lather explodes!!! I'll try the serum next shave. Thanks, friend, I look forward to breaking bread with you again.

I made a proto-lather with the Arko & MdC today. That made another exploding lather! I used the Sebum Green today, Mike. It gives me a similar face feel as some soaps that leave my face over-moisturized, even oily feeling. It's the first time I've ever tried a Sebum product. Thanks for sharing it with me! You gave me a nice-sized sample, I'll use it up, & that may take a number of shaves!

I am going to try that tomorrow, but I'm not familiar with "pro-to lather". Is it the same as loading the brush with one soap and then adding the second soap in a lather bowl?

I sometimes make a "super lather "by loading the brush with soap and then build lather with shaving cream in a bowl with a drop of glycerin.

I agree with you regarding the Sebum Green, I think it works best in in the winter when the air is dry.

One of the things I enjoy the most about shaving is I'm always learning new techniques.

I couldn’t remember what it was called mixing different soaps together. I called it proto-lather just as a guess. Lol! Thanks for reminding me about the Sebum possibly being better in our cold dry winters. I’m going to save it until the temperatures drop. Have a great Friday!

David - Looks like they patterned it after the Gillette Old Type. Do you have an Old Type to compare?

I'll have to pull out one of my Old Types & compare.
I got my copy in 2009. Andrew had started the company called kiwishaver in new Zealand. I still have my copy. A very mild razor modelled after the Gillette old type.

Thank you for the extra information. The baseplate on mine says made in NZ.
