Blades for an auto strop razor

Hi all,

Is there anyone here that can tell me where I can purchase auto strop blades?
Are they still manufacturing them or do I have to use another type and modify it?

Roger.

I think there is a type of blade made by Feather that fits some Auto Strop models. I have good results just removing the spines from SE blades and clipping just the very edge of the bottom, like in this video. You can also get some more info over at The Origination Safety, a site the guy in the video, Dave, got started to focus on SE razors.

The original blades show up a lot on E-bay. I have bough some but not had much success with them, even after trying to sharpen the edges. Using the Gem SE blades is the best bet, if your Valet is the earlier model.

Where can I find Gem SE blades then?

Since it's been a while since I visited Sweden, OK, I've never been there:lol:, I can't give you specifics, but I'll make some suggestions. In the US, SE blades for shaving can be found at many drug stores and pharmacies, you might want to start looking there. The internet is also full of options for shaving items. Send some e-mails to vendors checking on shipping, or to see if a vendor closer to home would be willing to start stocking SE blades, send them to us if they need proof that SE shaving is going strong:wink2:
As far as the "industrial" blades, if you have the spare money to potentially waste on blades that don't work, I say go for it! From my own experience, blades will either work well, or be too dull. In my crazy experiments, I've never found a blade that "tears you up" like some people warn against. They might not cut a single hair or be uncomfortable to use, but damage is minimal. Besides, I think we are all smart enough that if the first and second stroke produce more blood than a low budget 80's horror movie, the third stroke will be with a different razor.
