What's new

black razor

I currently have a de89 barley and I love it,I have been wet shaving about two months and
i like the minimalist approach.

but I have already ordered a second brush (semogue 830)
and have cella, tabac, qed sandalwood,vdh.. mwf on the way..coming with the 830..i thought why not a second razor as well.

I was looking at the merkur bakelite for its light weight and the merkur 37c slant
but was wondering have there ever been an all black razor? any manufacturer any material..??
I am looking for all black not just the handle..

just because I would like holding an all black razor..

thanks,
v..

Weber was talking about doing an all-black version of their razor, with a DLC-coated handle to match the head, but the last update I heard sounded like that was on indefinite hold.

Gillette did some black-lacquered Techs around WWII:

You can also find black plastic and Bakelite razors from around that same era. Here's a no-name one of mine:

I like that no-name one! It looks sweet! As for the Weber, someone on the Weber thread posted pics of theirs where they had powder coated or baked on a black enamel to the handle. Looked bad! All stealth and stuff.

The contractor Gillette was obviously intended to make it possible to shave in a blackout without attracting the warden's attention. After which, you would hie yourself to the nearest Red Cross First Aid demonstration to volunteer as a patient suffering severe facial trauma. More seriously, I would defintely snap one up, if I had a chance at it.

has anyone used a goodfella black satin razor ? what are your thoughts?

Here's one I stumbled upon for $75 in what looks like nice condition and with the original cardboard package.

No idea if it's a fair price or not and since I don't really need one I didn't buy it - but it seems to still be available.
