Bison Cordovan Strop - anyone use one?

I am thinking about taking an extreme plunge and treating my straights to a cordovan strop. Does anyone use or have experience with Bison's cordovan strops? They have two versions, black and cordovan coloured. Differences other than colour? I am focused on Bison because Fendrihan, a local online retailer, has them and gives great service. Thanks for any comments.

I think the only difference between the two is the leather color and the hardware is gold color instead of silver on the more expensive of the two. As performance goes they are both shell cordovan, so they will perform almost identical. Leather being natural material, no two are alike.

I have a friend who has their regular horsehide strop, and he really likes it. Said the craftsmanship, fit and finish are all top notch. Hope this helps.

Purchased the last one Fendrihan had in stock. Had hoped to get a little more feedback but as I have one of their horse strops I felt reasonably safe in the purchase. It is my fourth hanging strop and most expensive by a long shot. They each perform in line with their price. The more expensive the lighter and smoother the draw, along with cosmetic features such as better hardware and workmanship. Did a comparison of all four and the cordovan is by far the nicest in use. My base strop is a black Latigo from Baxter of California followed by a Dovo with Russian leather, then another Bison in horse. Once I am more familiar with how a blade shaves off the Bison cordovan I will attempt a proper review. Good to see such a fine item from an american company.
