Birth-date razor, need help finding.

I would like to buy my birth-date razor but I have no idea how the Gillette codes. I was born in March 1948. Could someone tell me what razor I need to look for. What is a fair price to pay?

I have been thinking of settling on a Gillette Tech Ball End razor. At least it was made during 1948. Can someone tell me what price range should one of these be in?

I think you will find it quite difficult to pinpoint a ball-end tech to your birth year; whereas, the SuperSpeed and Milord can pretty much be narrowed down to 1948/49 by virtue of a "notched" blade bar. Assuming you want a user razor and not a mint collector piece in a boxed set, you are probably safely under $25 in either of those cases, probably even a bit less for the basic 40's super speed. Good luck in your search.

You may also want to consider the fat-handle Tech that was made in the late 40's as well. Actually your birth year is right in the middle of the '46 - '50 period. That Tech has rectangular cut outs in the blade holder part. Plan to pay $15-$25 depending on condition.

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll see what I can find with the SuperSpeed and Milord.

The 40's style SuperSpeed began in 1947 it ended in 1954, these did not have the date code on the underside of the base until 1951 W/code.

1947 SS can be uniquely identified by the lack of a notch at the end of the center bar, like this one $attachment-1.jpg

In 1948 the notched bar was introduced. These razors are known as the 1948-1950. There is not a way to determine exactly when they were made.
