Billy Davis Custom Razor

Hello all, I recently acquired an interesting razor off of ebay and am wondering if anyone has insight as to its origins...

The baffling component is of course the large, rather nice looking design on the blade encasing the words "Billy Davis's". Now, that may well be a common enough name, but there is a famous songwriter and producer named Billy Davis who wrote some popular ads for coca-cola ("I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)").

It's a Boker as it has "H.Boker & Co. Germany" on one side of the shank and "Cutler Hardware Company" on the other.

Can anyone tell me how this might have happened? I have no idea if the songwriter even used a straight razor, although he did live in Detroit, and I bought the razor from alpena, MI. I also have no idea whether Boker made custom blades for individuals, or even signature edition blades to honor someone as they do with guitars.

I was unable to get any info from the person who sold it to me, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Not at all uncommon to see a razor made by a well known maker branded with a local seller's name. I notice Supplee Hardware most often. Additionally, it is pretty easy to envision a company personalizing a straight for a price. So it might well have been made for someone named Billy Davis. The Billy Davis? Who knows.

I used to own one just like that. I believe it was the retailer name. Unless of course, there were two Billy Davis'...or that is the same razor I used to own.
