Big W-atie Bowie

Another monster bowie from DBrock@Plowshare Forge...a copy of the bowie knife carried by famed Confederate General Stand Watie.

A Cherokee Indian and the last General of the Confederacy to surrender!

Heh, to me it looks like the bastard child of a machete and a lawnmower blade. :001_tongu

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Dan actually used a lawnmower blade to create this knife. His work isn't appreciated by many and probably only cherished by a few

It looks like it's quite well made, but to me it's just plain too big to be useful for anything other than re-enacting that scene from Crocodile Dundee. I prefer my steel to be useful.

As Mick Dundee himself would say "no worries mate" this knife is no movie prop, as a matter of fact all Dan's knives are working blades.

One of the first things I do is take a few chops into some firewood and jab the point into a stump and wiggle it a bit to see if the heat treat is good.

This bowie had no problem with either test and although it may have been made primarily with a Civil War reeactor in mind, it can easily function as a real working knife too.
