Best Unscented Shave Cream

I have used The Gentlemen's Refinery Unscented Shave Cream and like it very much. I have not tried others. Any ideas?

Right now I am going with The Gentlemen's Refinery and the Art of Shaving. Both are amazing but I kind of like The Gentlemen's Refinery a bit more... I need to get myself a better brush before i make my final decision.

Both TGR and AoS are good creams in their own right. AoS will more closely resemble the classic English creams - in fact, it is an English cream, even though AoS is an American company. It's a bit denser and stiffer than TGR. TGR tends to be a bit lighter in consistency, lathers less, is shinier on the face, and is a bit more moisturizing. AoS is the better bargain, price wise. A choice between the two really comes down to personal preference, as they are both quite good.

Kiss My Face makes an unscented shaving cream.

A bonus with unscented creams is that you can make superlather without interfering with the soap scent.

Are these just the many other options, or do you all consider these to be "the best"

I'm not sure if I understand your question. The OP asked for ideas for unscented creams other than TGR. I would assume people would recommend creams they think are "the best," or at least very good. That's what I did. There are more unscented creams out there, but I focused on AoS because that's what I personally have experience with, and I also think it's one of the best unscented creams.

The thread is titled "best" but I see a wide selection of options from the other members. My question was not really directed at you. More on the others who listed several products. I just wanted to clarify "best" from the rest. If the others members truly feel these are the “best” and not just other unscented options I would consider getting them to try myself.

Alba/Trader Joe's makes an unscented, brushless that is outstanding.

Yep, I was pleasantly surprised. I had been trying to find a cream that didn't burn after the first pass. The OP might want to look for the Alba label, since there doesn't appear to be a TJs in Louisiana.

Actually the best scentless I've found is plain old olive oil.

I'm surprised no one has said T&H Ultimate Comfort, I've never used it but I thought it got alot of press around here.:confused1

I think T&H UC is an excellent cream, but I personally do not think it is an unscented cream; moreover, I think the fact that T&H calls it so is misleading, and they should stop it. The UC cream contains lavender oil, and does have a fairly light, but pronounced, lavender scent. Both TGR and AoS unscented creams, on the other hand, have no scenting agents.

I've used a couple. My first choice would be Kiss My Face since it's cheap and works really well. Plus you may be able to find it in a local store. Go to their web site at kissmyface.com and use the store locator. Our Giant Eagle supermarket carries it.

But what works better and is also pretty cheap is Barbon. An amazing shave. It's not odorless - no cream really is. But the scent in nearly non-existent and it works great. Shavingessentials.com is the place for that. He says there is a menthols feel, btu I dont' get anything like that. Just a mild scent and a great shave.

Ultimate Comfort was not in fact all that good. I've purchased it twice and regretted it both times.

The Shave Den also sells unscented cream, as does St Charles Shave. In fact you can get a metric butt-load (defined as one pound in this case) of really good unscented cream from SCS for $28.50. Not THATS a deal.

I've always found it interesting how polarizing this cream tends to be. Some people really don't like it, and even go so far as to say it is the worst cream T&H makes, whereas others really like it. It was my go-to cream for quite a while, and although I'm more partial to Trumper Coconut these days, I can still get a very good lather and shave from the UC. I always liked how the extra glycerin made the shave just a little slicker, and the lather just a little "wetter," than the traditional English creams. And its lavender scent is really nice, in my opinion.

What problems did you experience with it, by the way?

No lubrication - the razor dragged and just didn't cut properly. And I really didn't like the way it left my face feeling. Greasy and heavy.

Hmm...if you don't like it, I doubt there's any point in helping you get a better shave from it, but from the sound of it, you may not have used enough cream. One downside of the UC is that, because it is thoroughly whipped and has a light consistency in the tub, it does require one to use a bit more of it to obtain optimal results; given its price, one could make a good point that it's not worth it. When I use it in the proper amounts, I find it lubes great - it's very slick, and also provides a lot of cushion. But yes, one does have to use a lot of it, unfortunately. As for the "greasy and heavy" feeling, personally I consider it to leave my face feeling conditioned after the shave, but I can see how those who want a "squeaky clean" feeling might feel as though it leaves a residue and not like it.

+1
For overall skin happiness, Barc is really good stuff, if a bit pricey. It's my best cream at the moment although I've been mostly collecting soaps so my cream reviewing ability is limited for now. Still it gives an amazing shave. Also I will mention Kiss My Face unscented - for ridiculously bountiful lather, or if you have a lower budget.
