What's new

Best soap for the money.

Figure we probably all treated ourselves to a new soap or two this year. If you had to select only one, which would you say found that perfect balance? the best scent, lather, efficacy, lubricity, etc for the money. example, if soap (A) is fabulous in all aspects & cost $12.00/puck and soap (B) is just as fabulous but runs $11.99/puck, then soap (B) would be the choice. I feel this will bring on very interesting conversation from many different point of views.

I like & have a few in rotation but if I were to choose performance VS price, I think I would choose;

Arko Stick.

Love the scent (LOVE:em2200:) and the soap just performs like crazy. For the price, Its a definate winner.

Which would you choose?

Well, stretching the definition of "soap" a bit, QCS. It's easy to lather, whips up beautifully every time, and comes in all sorts of wonderful scents. Plus, it's only $12 for a 5oz tub.

Another option might be Cella...it's quite cheap for what you get if bought in a kilo, lathers beautifully (though I still think it doesn't do quite as well as QCS), and smells great.

If you like the scent of Bay Rum, then Ogallala Bay Rum Shaving Soap. If you can't lather this soap................there's something wrong. 4.5 oz for under $5.

I did a little price comparison of soaps, and while not perfect, gives a nice breakdown. Definitely Arko is one of the best values in soap. It is by far the cheapest and a great performer. But I think that P.160, Cella, and Klar Kabinett are better performers, but still very cheap.

Palmolive shaving stick (euro).
Monsavon
LaToja (I still think that one is cheap even if I have to get it over the net)
Proraso of course

Williams Shaving Soap.

Its cheap, its slick, I always get great shaves with it. The lather may not look thick and creamy like tabac or others, but its the slickest damn soap i've got in the bathroom.
