Best soap for an Old Spice mug in 2024

What is the best mug soap that will fit in a Hull Pottery Old Spice mug? I am aware that you can grate a soap or press the modern croaps into it. I am not interested in vintage soap options. I would appreciate any recommendations for what you would consider the best performing modern mug soap in either an unscented option or an Old Spice scent-clone that will fit without any modifications. TIA!

Thank you all for the recommendation! I’ve learned that the glaze and paint almost certainly contain lead so the mug will either be a display piece or end up online for sale.

If you decide to get a lead free Old Spice mug I’d say get any of the Italian almond scented soaps that are sold by the kilo or three cubes of the Serbian made Palmira. Though I know those aren’t the scent you’re looking for

Haslinger would be an option (different scents). Also Cyril R. Salter 70g (very light lavender scent), though I think you will need to trim its edge to make it fit.

+1! You beat me to this suggestion! All eight options are great and they easily fit in the mug.:thumbup:

Well, after reading that pottery produced before 1970 may contain lead in the glaze, I decided to purchase a lead testing kit. I tested the kit out on a couple of items just to see if it works and it appears to work fine. The good news is my Old Spice mug tested negative! Suggest away!

I'd also say Haslinger. They have a fragrance-free variety called Sensitiv that is a great soap. The only scent is of the basic ingredients, very little scent to it. Only downside is that not every shop that sells Haslinger carries this one. It's probably not as popular, but it is good.

"ohne Duftstoffe" = fragrance-free

I'll always have fond memories of the hard, triple-milled pucks. But boy is it convenient to mash modern croaps into whatever container they need to be in. I think they're all probably good performers, but my current recommendation would be Mike's Naturals, available in a refill puck. Mine's in the plastic can, and it feels a little on the firm side, but I think it'll mash.

I transferred Le Père Lucien Nature from the smaller tin to a Pyrex bowl with zero issues. I didn't love the soap but it worked fine and didn't mind being open to the air.
