Best moisturising agent?

Hey everyone, I have been pondering this question for a while now. Which is the best moisturising agent, is it lanolin, shea butter, tallow or glycerine? I have used all of them and I can't tell the difference between them, is it a YMMV or am I just missing something?

MWF is the best moisturizing factor in my shaves, even more than my lotions and balms. I don't know if it's attributable to the lanolin in MWF (the "wool fat"), but it really leaves my face moisturized all day long, even after using alcohol-based AS.

I have experience of using a drop or two of Glycerin on the Godrej Shave Round, and the skin does not feel as tight as it does otherwise, in fact it becomes very very soft, especially because of the fact that a drop or two would be really a lot of Glycerin in the lather than any ordinary factory recipe !

I don't know for sure, but I think there is something very special about lanolin.

I'm a fan of adding a drop or two of glycerin to lathers, too, and I think it does add a bit of moisturization, but it seems it adds more to slickness than to moisturization.
