Best blade for a Gillette Super Speed

I have been using Personna Lab blues in a brass no brand Chinese DE razor which has been quite successful at giving me BBS shaves, I've been using the blues in my super speed but its been quite irritating. Any suggestions on other blades for my super speed?

Super Speeds aren't usually finicky with respect to blade choice, just about any blade works well for me. Maybe work on dialing in the angle and other techniques with your new razor before you give up on the blades.

I have used Personna lab blues with my Super Speeds with little problem and excellent results. I also find Wilkinson Sword Classics work well as does Personna Meds but YMMV as everyone seems to have different preferences.

Might be my technique, Im not used to the shorter handle, I'll keep at it thanks guys, I'll also pick up some feather blades to give them a try!

Remember the job is to cut hair not scrape skin. Rock that Super Speed back on the doors and just let the blade just start to touch your skin.
Haircuts don't hurt, why should shaving?.....:001_smile

A nice sharp blade. Feathers are great..... but lately Gillette Silver Blues have been working in just about every DE razor I own.

I'll echo the comment about blade angle. The head profile on the SS is going to be a little different than the Chinese razor you were using. You'll have to adjust the angle on the SS to compensate.

That's what I was thinking, this morning I realized the problem area was around my jaw where the angle changes. I'll have to play with it to get the right angle.

Gillette 7 O'clock SharpEdge (Yellow) are my usual. Med Preps are a little smoother, but don't last quite as long. I think I will try a med prep in my long comb NEW next though, its a tad more aggressive than my SS, I think it would benefit from a smoother blade (I still get great shaves with it).

Lab blues work OK for a few shaves, but no where near as sharp as the yellows, and not as smooth as the Med preps.

Feather was AWESOME. For one shave. I need to try another, maybe I had a bum blade, but second shave was not as good. I also have much more experience now, so maybe they will do better. Feather turned the mild SS into a stubble removing machine :)

Depends on which Super Speed? The mild Blue Tip? The regular Flair Tip? Or the aggressive Red Tip? And what kinds beard are we talking about? Coarse, medium, or light? So many variables. Experimentaion is the key, and even then YMMV!
