Best aftershave for a beginner.

I general question I know, in about three weeks into DE, and usually use a Kiehl's toner post shave, but would love to try and good aftershave. Of which there are more options than stars in the sky. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, something good for all seasons. I don't mind paying for quality.

Speick ASL. I find it heals minor razor burn and nicks better than anything else I tried. It isn't alcohol heavy, so there isn't much burn. It also has a great mix of ingredients to sooth the skin: alum, witch hazel, Speick extract, menthol, lavender oil, camphor, sorbitol and mannitol. It has a mild floral scent that fades quickly, so you can wear any fragrance you like without it clashing.

Go to any Target, Walmart or CVS and get some Aqua Velva Musk, Skin Bracer or other inexpensive splash that has more than water, alcohol & fragrance in the ingredients.

I ordered some of the Speick, and some proraso green, as I am already a big fan of the pre shave cream. Looking forward to trying them.

Start with the classics, they are cheap and readily available locally. Old Spice, Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva, Brut and Pinaud Clubman.

Looks like you started out with some nice aftershaves that both carry a high reputation.

While you're waiting for your Speick and Proraso head to your local drugstore or supermarket and do some bottle sniffin. Thevez mentions some that you will probably find relatively easily and I'm guessing you might like one enough to try and it won't set you back more than $5 or so. I am partial to Skin Bracer and Old Spice and wish I would have grabbed these before going crazy trying a bunch of stuff that cost twice as much online.

Proraso is a great aftershave. I'm sure you'll like it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Aubrey Organics' line, especially North Woods. Carried at Whole Foods.

I really like the Proraso splash – I bought a 400ml bottle of it before I even finished the 100ml one. It smells great (menthol and eucalyptus), it has a nice sting, a good cooling sensation and it leaves my skin feeling great! The only thing I don't like is that the scent dies down really quickly, within 10 minutes or so – I wish it lasted longer!

The pre-shave is a real winner as well – I just bought a barber-size tub of it!
