Berkeley "best" upgrade

I really like my Berkeley brush (in "best"), but occasionally I would like something similar yet a little more luxurious. Does this brush come in super badger? If not, what would be comparable (doesn't have to be Simpsons).

Basically you are looking for a smaller silvertip?

Shavemac would be a good start!

Might be able to get Mark and company to make a Berkeley in silvertip, but that might be pricey. Think perhaps one or another of the Dukes has a special edition. Or, besides the Shavemac suggestion, you might also look into a Saville Row from QED.

Yes, but with similar loft, density and shape relative to the Berkeley.

I am familiar with the 3/1 (and it's a nice brush). Is the knot in a 1/1 different?

Never had a Saville Row, so I, too, would have to rely on pictures. However, my Berkeley is more bulb shaped, and I prefer that shape myself. As to loft, you would just have to see the listed dimensions. As to density comparisons, I really couldn't say.

I have a Berkeley in best and a Tulip 1 in two-band. Very close in size. Of course, the two-band has more backbone (though the Berkeley is fine in that regard, too), and is my preferred soap brush. But a Tulip 1 in Super could be just what you're after. So I'll second Ray's recommendation.

Isn't the loft a bit high on those?

In any case, I used a brand new Thater 22mm yesterday and it may just be the ticket here. Very nice brush.
