What's new

been using Honeybee Soap - recommendations for something else?

I've been using Honeybee Spa Soaps for the last couple of years and I like them fine. get them off ebay - quick and simple. fairly inexpensive at about $21.99 plus s/h for six.

was about to buy six more cakes and that I would see what others like.

just thought I might see if someone else had a soap they really recommend that would be in about that price range. what are you using you like?

my advice is to try something different than a glycerin-based soap. tallow or veggie soaps might cost a bit more up front, but they'll last much longer...enough to make up for the difference in price

at around $5.50, i'm a fan of the speick shave stick. fantastic lather, small and portable, mild and long-lasting

at around $8.50, i'm also a fan of the newish proraso green tea and aloe soft soap. it's made for sensitive skin, yet lathers beautifully

at around $10, i'd also consider a puck of provence sante. extraordinarily mild with nice lather and shea butter for comfortable skin. i've been working on a puck steadily for months now.

also in that range (depending on the deal you get) i'd consider tabac. the scent is very much like old spice but the lather really is spectacular.

just my 2 ¢

CADE is great, too -- around $10/puck. The C&E soaps are $8 if you don't get the wooden bowl and they lather up just as well.

tabac . . . the scent is very much like old spice but the lather really is spectacular.

That's the first I've heard it described that way, makes me much less trepidatious about pulling the trigger on it.

your two cents is exactly what I'm looking for ... and in this case that looks to be about a dollar (or more)! thanks so much.

question about spieck shaving stick ... how does that work with a brush? I'm a mug and brush guy in the shower. how do you use a stick?

and where can I buy these other products? you got a source?

thanks for the help. very good stuff! :w00t:

I too have bought a puck you can only read so many threads about it before it eats away at you. I like the scent its hard to describe though and the lather is great.

Some of the common, well established and respected soaps around here:

Tabac
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Speick
Cella
Arko
Palmolive
Valobra

am I forgetting anything?

All these are really cost effective, and can be found easily on amazon or any of the other well known shaving vendor sites.
