Battle of the Razors - Fatboy vs Slim - Round 2

My schedule changed unexpectedly, so I didn't get to finish this "competition" as planned yesterday. So I held round two - Fatboy vs Slim, this evening. Same "rules" - shaved one side of my face with the Fatboy, the other side with the Slim, same time, same blade, same superlather, same setting, and switched sides of the face for each this time.

Once again, the competition was so close it was almost too close to call. Almost. And although both were equally comfortable in their performance this time, once again, the Slim had the slightest better result when the competition was over.

So for me, I have to call it, although by the slightest margin in a competition that was almost too close to call, a victory for the Slim!

I like the way the slim shaves, and it seems more maneuverable, but the Fat Boy has that great heft that feels so good in your hand. It's a wash to me!

Having seen all the (electronic) ink spilled over the Fatboy on shaving forums, I was somewhat excited when I chanced apon one in nice shaving condition, beat up case and all, for $5 at a second hand shop.

After the usual clean and polish, it was ready to go. Finally, I could get that shave that everybody was talking about. I lathered, loaded a blade and prepared for a mind bendingly great shave.

I got it. It was a great shave! Just like I get with my Slim Adjustable!

They are both fine razors. I do like the feel of the Fatboy, I understand the better production values, limited production run, and the mystique that goes along with those factors, and that great name.

Don't overlook the Slim just because it isn't a Fatboy.
