Barbicide / Hydrocide

I've got a new Barbicide midsize jar on it's way and some Hydrocide to fill it. I certainly know not to leave my razors in there and let it eat away at them.

In your experience, does it eat away at the paint? Numbers, red indicator / black ring on a Fatboy, etc? I remember seeing someone here mention that they're getting better shaves as a result of dunking. Are you getting better shaves? What else do I need to know?

Thanks in advance, ladies and gents.

Are you talking about cleaning and desinfecting flee market finds or are you talking about your daily routine razors?
I have not used any desifectant on my razors as I keep them clean, meaning rinse and dry with a towel.
Used razors with some scum on them got a soak in scrubbling bubbles. Then a good brushing with an old toothbrush and "Barkeepers friend" or "Bon Ami" then a rinse with hot water and a dip in alcohol. Done.

My apologies. I'm talking about a daily dunk. Scrubbing bubbles works well but if incorporating this into my daily routine, I might have to "scrub" less often!

I have both a mid-sized Barbicide jar and one of these:

I use the Barbicide jar for my hair cutting gear only and would never consider dunking an entire DE into it. Now a straight razor might be a different story depending upon what the scales are made of. On topic, the Razo Brite razor bath is perfect for what you are suggesting to do for after shaving. I rest my DE's in the Razo Brite while I clean up the shave area and apply my post shave treatment. The razor sits in the bath for maybe 5 minutes tops. I have used both alcohol and Barbicide in that container with no problem whatsoever.

I would a regular immersion of any DE into Barbicide for a prolonged period of time.
