Barber's hone... how to?

Can anyone recommend a good video or even pictorial for honing, specifically with a barber's hone, please?

I have seen a bunch for honing, but having trouble finding something specific to barber's hones.

Thank you for your help.

I hold the hone flat in the palm of my offhand and start with the spine facing me and the heel leading the edge slightly (maybe 15 degrees on a 2" wide hone) then do an x stroke as if I were slicing a tomato (more of a pull from the tang then a push from the spine) flip it along the spine (usually by rotating the spine on the corner of the hone while I reposition the heel where I want it and laying the blade back down) so the edge is facing me (mirror copy of how I started) then complete the x stroke. Repeat as needed.

Some are. I use mine with water (I don't use them often though, I prefer natural stones). I know a lot of folks that use them with shaving lather.

Yeah, it seems like there are a lot of ways to do it, and even variations in the different brands of hone, as far as how you use them.

I'm hoping to find some kind of a comprehensive resource.

Thank you very much for your replies.

When you hone with the barber's hone in your hand, be sure that no part of your hand is in the razor's line of travel!

I learned this lesson the hard way a week ago. My thumb is almost completely healed now.

hahaha yep. Holds true for all of 'em. I haven't shed any blood yet, but more than once I've taken a thin little layer of skin right off the side of my thumb when it peeks up a little too much.
