Barbasol Razor

Found 2 old razors that I hadn't seen before. Actually, I found 2 of the same razor. Long handle and a fairly heavy razor. It weighs in at 3.1 oz.

After looking it over a few times, I finally noticed the word Barbasol going across the smooth ring. When I looked at the other razor, I found that it was exactly the same except that it wasn't labeled with the Barbason name. (Not sure what to think about that.)

I found one on eBay and the seller said that it was extremely aggressive.
It kind of resembles one of the larger handled old types.
Can anyone shed any insight into this razor?

The Barbasol is a very heavy and aggressive razor.
You really have to use caution when using it because it'll skin you if you're careless.

That's why I gave mine away.

Great razor if you like weight and the ability to cut your own skin grafts.

Bah. I love mine, it's like a kitten brushing against your face and purring the stubble off.

Yes, it's lively, but if your technique is solid there is a superb shave in that razor. Go for it.

I still think the Barbasol is a practical joke razor. That is a seriously aggressive razor.

I've got both also, one came off the BST, one from the Bay .. both are aggressive, think Sledgehammer Slant with some extra attitude .. here's a thread from last year describing the differences http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=519005..

For me, as long as I am careful, both work great

Barbasol happens to be my favorite razor. Have it in my regular rotation - actually prefer it over all other vintage Gillettes I have.
