Balms with SPF protection?

I'm loving my C+E Blue ASB, great performer, easily purchased at any mall, decent price. However, prior to leaving the house I have to apply either sunscreen or some SPF15 moisturizing cream, and I find that doubling up on products like that can make my skin greasy and clogged.

Is is possible to buy some kind of 'SPF additive' that can be added to an existing product? Or am I now in the market for yet another aftershave product (ASBRAD? :001_tongu) Any suggestions of good ASBs that have sunscreen protection?

I follow up my AS, ASB routine with Jack Black Double Duty face moisturizer with an SPFof 25. It really is pretty light and does a good job moisturizing the other parts of my face without leaving a greasy feeling or a noticeable scent.

It is a good idea to use something with an SPF on your entire face. I don't really have the urge to put an ASB over my entire face.

Hmmm, I'm actually have a hard time finding a balm or milk with SPF protection other than that L'Oreal (which is way to heavy for every-day use.)

try purpose. Its light, its soothing and has very little scent.

Well, I only use a balm/moisturizer during the winter. I find Cetaphil to be a very good moisturizer and does not leave your face greasy. It's SPF 15 by the way. It's unscented and does not interfere with aftershaves/colognes

My friend uses Tommy Bahama Skin Soother as an ASB and says it makes his skin feel great and has spf 15. The scent is a match for Tommy Bahama for Men cologne which is surprisingly good and not as Jimmy Buffet as you would think.

The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is the Razor-Line Defy Age ASB which I've never used.

Aveeno makes a daily moisterizing lotion with sunscreen (SPT 15). I haven't used it as a balm but it looks promising.

I use Neutrogena's Razor Defense Face Lotion with SPF15. It moisturizes without being greasy and really helps relieve bad razor burn or irritation. Try it out :thumbup1:

For a less expensive alternative, Every Man Jack has an aftershave lotion with SPF 15. EMJ stuff is available exclusively at Target so keep that in mind. Good luck with your search. :thumbup1:

King of shaves (in the uk anyway) does a moisturiser with a pf factor 30 and last year when in cyprus with the temp at over 100 most days i wore this on my face both in the morning and after shaving in the evening and found it excellent, really thick cream and more like a suncream i suppose and in the end my wife was using it in the day on her face as she found it protected better than suncreram and left her face not dried out like normal sunscreen.

Just make sure you check the active ingredients of any sunscreen-containing product before you buy it. In the U.S., there are really only 3 sunscreen ingredients that actually block UVA rays, which are the ones that cause accelerating aging and skin cancer (all sunscreens block UVB rays, which cause sunburn). The three ingredients are:

1) Avobenzone (also known as Parsol). This is the only chemical sunblock available in the U.S. that blocks UVA. The other two are physical blocks.

2) Zinc.

3) Titanium dioxide.

Sunscreens containing zinc and/or titanium dioxide, because these are physical blockers, tend to be thick and sometimes are difficult to get "into your skin" (i.e., they may leave a thin white layer on your skin). On the plus side, very few people have bad reactions to these two ingredients.

Avobenzone is better absorbed and less likely to leave your skin feeling greasy, but some people don't want the "chemical" blockers and prefer the idea of a physical blocker.

Any sunscreen that doesn't contain at least one of these ingredients will prevent sunburn but will not prevent the outcomes of sun exposure that you really want to prevent.

I've been asked to add SPF to our aftershaves. It can easily be done but an 'active' ingredient puts the product into a "drug" category instead of cosmetic. For a small time company to offer a drug is a pretty impossible task. That is why SCS doesn't offer SPF although we would like to.

I use Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer with SPF 20 everyday. I use an alcohol based aftershave after my shave and then before I head out the door I sue the Jack Black Moisturizer. It is the one thing that stays the same everyday in my routine.

I use the L'oreal in the summer and like it better than the normal sunscreen alternatives. I just use a little pea sized dollop for my entire face and the back of my neck.
