i think it's time to move away from the commercial products for my head, not working for me anymore. can anyone point me towards a good shaving cream and after shave? also i'm looking for a matte look with the after shave

how's the headblade line?

I've been using whichever cream / soap I use on my face, so Proraso, TOBS and D R Harris are the ones I use most often.

I've been shaving the top of my head for years.

I use whatever soap/cream I'm using for my face. And I use a (gasp) Mach3. A cart in the M3 lasts a couple months.

Wifemate gave me a HeadBlade for Christmas. I returned it - unused.

My scalp has a natureal sheen. If you want the matte look, I'd suggest a bit of powder. Scented or not. Your preference.

I have used, Arko, Williams, Van Der Hagen, C.O Bigelow, J. M. Fraser's, Godrej etc..etc... With either a GEM micromatic or a Merkur23c with a lot less irritation than any of the modern stuff.. How much less? Try none. no irritation! If I could only pick one soap/cream from my line up for my scalp it would probably be C. O. Bigelow....just don't let it run into your eyes! Yowza!
