I just picked up some made rite and ever ready handles from the bay. Im wanting to re do them. Can someone tell me why alli express is so cheap and what the difference between them and knots at the golden nib are? thank you
Price wise it is simple. TGN serves to get all the logistical issues out of the way from dealing directly with Chinese manufacturers, which can be problematical at time. They also allow the individual to get a single knot instead of many times (not always) having to buy in minimal quantities. Shipping is quicker from point of order and tends to have a much more accurate delivery with TGN. If you have issues, you at least have a business in the US to deal with rather than trying to get some sort of correction on a problem.
As to the quality of knots, the knots from Ali Express range from good to excellent just like TGN.
There is a risk / reward concept in your question and the issue is do you want to deal with a lot of issues, time, and potential order miscues versus paying additional cost. This especially comes into play if you one want to restore a couple of brushes and that is all.
I am not bashing either approach, but the question is do you have the time, want to have to reroute shipping because the seller(s) has sent the brush to another part of the country (more than one shipment and seller) from Ali Express.
Now I have had the privilege of going both methods on a number of occasions so I have had experience with all the issues mentioned above.
