So I tried to get my wife started with safety razor. She complained that it wasn't shaving. I looked an she had the comb upside down. It kind of messed up the threading on my DE89, so trying to unscrew it was hard. As I was fixing it, I took a major slice on my thumb. Nice amount of blood loss. Drank some Gatorade. Think I will take a nap now.

That's a bit of a hazard with that razor - dry hands essential also no harm in using a towel to protect your hands when you're doing that. Even when the threading is not off key it is in my view - and I quite like the razor - a bit of a hazard inherent in the way the 3 pieces screwing together are arranged. I did it to myself - although yours sounds worse - the first week I had that razor.

Bummer! My worst cuts have been on my hands, not my face...
Always remember that the sharp end goes against your face, not against your thumb and fingers and you will be just fine in the future

Is something I've done a hundred times. I thought she ruined the threading, and in my frustration just was less cautious. I paid big time. Razor cuts aren't like standard cuts. They go down to the nerve. 800mg of ibuprofen and I'm good. Lesson learned.
