Back to the double edge shaving

There's a likelihood that I've been shaving longer than a number of the readers of this forum, please don't hold it against me, I'm gratified to find others, like myself, who prefer blade shaving. I've always been a blade and lather shaver - to me it's the only way to get a decent shave. Like many others, over the years I moved from my Gillette double edge razors to the modern and sexy two and three blade cartridge systems, with satisfaction regarding quality of shave. I currently use the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo.
Recently I had a whim to return to those "thrilling days of yesterday" and purchase a double edge razor. When I, naively, discovered that you can't just go to the corner store and buy a Gillette razor anymore I got my hackles up. This whim has now become an obsession to get the unobtainable, a good ole Gillette.
In the span of less than a month I have obtained a Gillette adjustable from the sixties, Super Speed red tip from the fifties, a ball end new style from the thirties and (my favorite) an Old Style from the twenties.
Anyhow, I just wanted to introduce myself, I saw the forum and it looked like a good place to pick up information and ideas.

Welcome aboard Walt
Vintage is the way to go while you can find "affordable" modern DE razors they're made of pot metal and just feel cheap, vintage American,British, etc iron(actually brass but who's counting)is the way to go.
