I thought I could smell as well as anyone, but the SS/SC/AS AD brought on by B&B has shown me otherwise. When I first started, I couldn't discern even the most basic scents. I fell in love with T&H pre-shave oil, but someone had to tell me that what I was smelling was citrus. After quite some months I'm even able to distinguish the bergamot.
It only hit me when I opened a tin of Pre de Provence and thought, "hmm, rosemary." And then I thought, "How do I know that?" Six months ago I would have said, "Hey, this smells like really great soap! Really great french soap!" I still don't have a palette like some of you guys, but I'm getting there, and the journey is a lot of fun.
I've also found that I like "feminine" scents just fine. Provence Sante? Not masculine at all, but I like it. Rose? Come on, this is not a man's scent. But it's turned into a favorite.
Anyway, keep on sniffin'.
