ASB for razor burn?

So I've used Old Spice and Clubman but need something that's going to help my burn when I go a little too far. those two only make the redness worse.

I was thinking about the Proraso blue or white balms but if you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

what fights the burn? (aside from proper prep and technique...ahem)

You could try splashing on a little Witch Hazel right after your shave, it seems to calm any burn I get. Thayers makes a few different WH formulations, including an unscented version. Then, you can follow up with any AS you want.

+1. Thayer's original WH w/aloe vera is the fireman...

GFT Skin food.
If I'm not sure if it's razor burn or sunburn (and with me it's most likely sunburn), I'll go with Neutrogena triple.

I've been using Dickinson's WH and it helps, but perhaps the Thayer's with aloe might do a better job...or maybe just aloe with my Dickinson's...

I've got the plant and some gel...

Proraso Pre/Post is my go-to for razor burn. Works like a charm.

my routine : post-shave - rinse with warm water, then cold water - then immediately apply alum block to face, which will result in a slight short-lived sting wherever there is skin irritation - after 30-60 seconds, rinse with cold water again - pat dry and then apply Thayers witch hazel - after this has 'dried' apply AS balm of choice.

works every time for me. the alum block may sting at first but makes a big difference in the end. it's also a great feedback for where technique needs to be improved..

YMMV.

IMO, Thayer's original stands in a different league from Dickinson's and the other generic big-box witch hazels.

I found that GFT skin food Sandalwood didn't help me with razor burns... anyway the product is thought more like a Pre than a Post

The best balms I have tried for that purpose are Institut Karité and Castle Forbes balms, by far. Institut Karité have a 25% percentage of that ingredient (Karité), and Castle Forbes is mainly made of Witch Hazel plus Aloe Vera, so is natural that both are good products. But the IK have much better value for money: here in Spain a 250 ml. bottle costs about 20 euros.

And if you want to avoid the high priced Castle Forbes balms, there's in this forum some recipes to make your own "copy":

+1000 as I can't add a single suggestion to this :thumbup::thumbup:

A lot of people seem to have irritation issues from some Sandalwood products, including GFT skin food.
The essential oils just don't get along with some body chemistries.

GFT Skinfood is my usual aftershave treatment and I find it works very well on the rare occasion I get razor burn. With the three scents available you can find one to match your cream/soap. It also lasts for ages.

Gents, let's not forget Cornhuskers Lotion. Very effective and super cheap (less than $5 at the local drugstore)
