What's new

Artist Club blades a bit dated stored badly, throw them away?

I have various Injector razor blades including Kai Mild Protouch,Dorco and various others now dated, I believe they were sent to me by my colleague in mid or late 2019 anyway a bit before the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic.
I have many blades also for double edge that I use frequently and more often so these I had set aside a little bit, I use them less.
Probably the lot was not stored properly, not at the best let's say as well they were in the clear bags, some when I opened them visually had specks of rust and I immediately trashed them.

I didn't notice any signs of rust on any of my Kai Mild Protouch blades with protection so I think I'll use them..

The other blades some showed some rust, others did not seem to show it.

In the meantime I am going to change the foil and the clear bag that contained them because I noticed that it had some small holes in it.

Would it be okay here as well?

I thought these blades came with a coating to help protect against rust. Maybe a stropping would help them? In any case if they were disinfected you could give one a try before tossing them.

If you should decide to give stropping a try, don’t strop them while inserted into any of the Feather AC razors. They will scratch the strop.

You could give palm stropping a try though. It is perfectly safe, if done right.

To answer your question, I would just shave with them and see how they perform
You will note on the first pass whether they are still useable.

Caveat: I use Feather AC Professional and Super blades only and will not use any of the Guard blades, as I don’t see the point of stringing a wire in front of the edge.
