Did the No16 ever come in a fitted case ie with an indentation for the razor sitting diagonally?

Will do. Case is pretty battered but it has done its job as the razor is in great condition. I am assuming the auctioneer does not not know too much about razors as looking round today he seems to think the correct way to display the razor is a with it loaded!! This will be my first live auction

Sounds Awesome, I want me a No16 gotta find someone to trade with for a Super Mint No.66 Till a few months ago i thought they were the same Razors / till i noticed a few differences like the Bottom platewhich was a bug give away, Duhh )

I find the added weight in the head makes a noticeable difference.

I went back to the viewing and looked more closely at the razor. The case is badly knocked up. The razor looks great no plating loss but when the TTO is fully open you have to push the doors open slightly. Could this just be gunked up? Hoping the state of the case will keep the bidding low!
i have often thought about trying some of the auctions, was kind of put off after the way some of the antique shops look at you when you ask about razors,when they say they have no straight razors, you ask if they have any double edge razors, they look at you like you have two heads and are asking for the rubbish from there bins, its as if to say.. we dont stock junk like that.
Could be or it could be just the way it is. I've owned two 66's with lazy doors, they were not dropped or damaged from what I could tell so I assume they came from the factory like that.

If the silo doors are sticking (and if I win the razor!!) can you use oil to ease the doors? Or should you just soak the razor?
Soak in penetrating oil - will not harm the rhodium and cleans anything out!
