Are some soaps real 'soft?'

Hey all,

In many different videos, I see people lathering with a purple/pink lavender soap (see it at 1:25 HERE)- and it always looks real soft in the container, almost like a hard cream. Is that just soap that has soaked - or is that the consistency?

I am sure you know the soap I am talking about....

Thanks,

Matt!

I think what mantic is doing there is making a superlather, basically loading up the brush with soap and cream. The soap is in the mug which he loads first, and the purple "soft soap" as you say is actually a cream that is in a tub vs a tube.

From the looks of that shot, it's probably just a shave cream. That purple color could be a lot of creams, but I'd guess maybe he's got a violet Trumpers cream there.

And yes, those tend to be much softer than soaps. But, like a soap, you can typically dip your brush in it similarly to pick some up. I just wouldn't spend as much time swirling in the cream like you'd load off a soap. You're basically just trying to scoop up enough onto your brush to build your lather elsewhere (in your mug or on your face)

Hey all,

Thanks.... I am familiar with creams in a tub, but, for some reason, assumed that the violet one was a regular soap, and just really soft...

I may want to give the Trumper's a shot!

Thanks again,

Matt!

P.S. Is it abnormal to compare the pink soap to a gummy-candy and want to eat it? Just curious....

Are there soft soaps? Definitely. For example, I have some P.160 Tipo Duro, which is about the consistency of modeling clay. I am given to understand that Tipo Mordo is softer. Then there's Cella, which others have already mentioned.

But, it's likely that what you're seeing is actually a cream.
