Are Rocket HD's going way up in price?

Here's a really nice one that was just sold on eBay by Achim (Mr. Razor). Now it's a pretty clean example of a Rocket HD, but $155?! I'm going to put mine on the block too if that's the going rate right now. Anyway, congrats to Achim -- he always gets good prices for his razors and is a great guy to deal with.

I bought one about 2 years ago, on the BST, for a little less than that, but mine is Near Mint with the correct blade case and instructions. So knowing that I guess they have gone up.

the most i have paid for a rocket hd is £20 boxed, i have another 2, one is the aluminium handle one it was £12,these are great razors, one of my favourites, but some of the prices you guys in the states pay for them is a bit heavy, to be fair gillette uk was at the top of their game with these razors, a bit like the fatboy and slims in the states, in the uk we have to pay a bit more.

They're easier to come across in Europe. But I have seen the prices on them go up especially the 500's, the heavier version. I think that for decent cased ones $45-70 is average.

Its all about how complete the set is and the "condition" of the razor. The condition sets the tone.

to be fair the cases on 2 of mines were in bad condition, 1 was uncased at £12 but all the razors cleaned up like new, not ceder-f man new mind, but what razor does.:biggrin1:

I got carried away in an over-heated eBay auction last December and paid substantially more for one -- I won't say how much -- that had a cracked case but included the booklet. It was in excellent but not mint condition. That was a learning experience. What I paid was completely stupid. But it's hands-down my favorite among several HDs I have. In retrospect, I don't regret buying it at the price. In my experience every HD Rocket is a little different, and this one is exceptional as a shaver. It ranks 3rd favorite among my TTOs, behind a #21 and a #58.

Seems like they went up right around when I started looking for one! hah. I'd pay that much though, if I spotted a BIN I wouldn't be able to resist it. 500s are just plain cool.

As more and more wet shavers join this community it's only going to get worse. Prices that is, due to the supply and demand of more future wet shavers. :eek:/

No one ever started collecting big time like we do today, with the exception of a few old timers and gillette executives back then. Today we have the internet that opens many doors, Something others in the past would of never dreamed of, The Internet where everything is a click away )

I agree that the old "supply and demand" rule dictates prices -- I mean, that's always true, right? But it does also seem like some prices around here are heavily influenced by what's "hot" right now and not always about the number of razors on the market versus the number of purchasers on ebay. The Rocket HD is a great razor, no doubt, but is it worth more than a near-mint Toggle? More than a near-mint Monobloc? Well, that's what these purchasers are saying, but I'm sorry, those prices seem to be a little out of line for what you're getting in return. Just my two cents.

For a set missing bladedispenser and instructionsheet, it was a little pricey. I also watched this auction. I have a complete set but the handle made of aluminium. Looking for the heavier one.

Not shiny and sparkling, a good deal for both sellar and buyer I guess. I really dont belive many of us pay to much! :) If someone pays 500 for that set, it proberly worth just that to him.
