What's new

Are brush restores as addictive as everything else around here?

I'm seeing a lot of posts of brush restores.
Now I want to do one too.
I've just survived a bout of RAD, I'm well over my SCAD, now i'm in for a brush restore AD?

I can't afford this! but I can't afford not to do this!:cursing:

I do think it is one of the worst addictions.
Fun, easy to learn & very rewarding. I'm doing one tonight actually.
The great availabilty of old brushes & the nice knots & friendly helpfulness
at Golden Nib doesn't exactly help either :scared:

If I were you, I'd rip my internet cable from its socket & make a run for it. Before its to late.

Yes I believe them to be and I haven't even completed my first one! I don't know whether to thank Tony at TGN or hate him because if it wasnt for him offering such nice knots at reasonable prices I wouldn't even be considering this.

Nope

I can stop anytime I want...........:001_tt2:

I checked out the site and almost ordered a few knots. I don't even have any handles.
I've seen some nice handles on the 'bay and i'm sure I can find some at yard sales or flea markets. I hope.

I tried. Wireless follows me around every corner. :glare:

I say stay away from it, save yourself. I am completely and utterly addicted. It seems to me that at the moment at least it is much worse than my RAD was and that was pretty bad. It is a lot of fun though.

It has become the worst for me. For some reason brushes in general have been my weakness. I am down to one razor, a couple straights that I am learning on, but brushes... it looks like the episode of Star Trek where the tribbles just end up everywhere. Each one that gets redone is just a little bit different from the last.

They start to talk to you... "Hey, can I go into the scuttle today?" "Can I taste the shave cream?" then the time you have to shave in the morning increases because you have to pick one to lather with... Then you end up with a custom white jacket.

It's downright dangerous I tell you! I have more than enough brushes for a small army and yet I can't help but try restoring, or try out restored brushes every now and then...

Yes, I have around 30 restored vintage brushes and I'm reluctantly selling some (one can possibly have a few too many, along with 80 DEs and 5 Str8s - only started buying Str8s last week tho :)

SHMBO has less handbags than I have restored brushes, so I thought I better get the numbers down a bit - so I can buy some more. Shhhhhh.

This new Iphone and Ebay App has only made things worse - now I can bid on the move Ahhhhhhh!

100 year old Ivory Travel Brush - £85
New Knot in Silvertip - £20

Pleasure of using and owning it - Priceless!

Would you all like to see some pics? (this one's for keeps though)
