Aqua Velva Bottle?

As you may know AV has never made its way over the pond to the Uk.
I have found a seller on Ebay based in the Uk who is selling AV however it is in a different shaped bottle to what you guys are using.
This is in a square glass bottle, the liquid is blue and it does not say Ice blue on it just Williams Aqual Velva.
Is this old stock or is it a different variety?

Ive just found the answer myself on google.
It appears to be a European Variety.
The ingredients and scent apparently are totally different.
The AV found in the States is apparently no longer made by Williams.

I think i will wait until my Friend comes back from US on Holiday with the original stuff.

Pics? Link?

The AV here in the states is still very much manufactured by Williams. They're just owned by Combe International now, but it's the same stuff that it's been since the fifties and prior.

If you google AQUA VELVA SQUARE BOTTLE you will find a site called ..............Com
Quite an Interesting article.

The AV you guys are using is the same original formula
The AV I have found is made in the Netherlands by Williams ( SARA LEE Co )
I thought they made cakes?

a quote from that site i think adresses clearly the ops original question.

The composition of the European Aqua Velva is also more complex: it contains Citrol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Evernia Furfuracea, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellol, Limonene and Linalool, all ingredients that are absent from the American Aqua Velva.
In practice, the European Aqua Velva has a more subtle and more complex scent. It is still unmistakably Aqua Velva, but, at the same time, it is clearly not identical to the American product.

Which one is best? It's largely a matter of personal taste: they both provide a superb cooling and bracing sensation and are excellent aftershave products that should be in every shaving enthusiast's inventory.

Ahh... I see now. Just FYI, the info in the "history lesson" on that page is pretty much incorrect. The "Euro" Aqua Velva that is being sold there is the same stuff that we had here in the late eighties. I don't have a bottle of what was being sold on that site, but it looks suspiciously similar to a .ca 1989 bottle of the US stuff that I have several examples of.

It's possible that the Netherlands still manufactures our "New" Aqua Velva that we rejected years back. It's pretty disappointing, though, if you're a fan of the real stuff. (I've always been a fan of the bottles, though. The circular indentations make it pretty easy to get a grip on the glass.)

I simply quoted. I'd take robs word for it.

I'm sure this isn't the same article, but I found this one:http://reddomino.typepad.com/languor_management/2007/10/the-aqua-velva-.html

The best part of the article:
"I don't wear aftershave," I said, looking back down at my book. I wasn't trying to come off as a snob; the sad truth is that I rarely have to shave, so I have no need for the product.

Okay, so he thinks people would think of him as snobby by not wearing aftershave and he doesn't need to use it since he only shaves once in a while? Some people. . .

I like the bottle.

I ordered it and it arrived yesterday.
A very mild scent which i can only describe as Mint and Alcohol.
Only lasts a matter of minutes on me.
Is this totally different to the Us version.

My dad used to use AV so now I use it because it is nostalgic as well as functional. However, the bottles I remember him using (in the 80s-90s) were quite different than anything I can find a picture of online. It had the same overall shape of the present day AV bottle, but the outside surface was textured, almost like a golf ball, but the pattern was more random and finer. Does anyone know what formulation came in this bottle?
