AOS "unscented" pre-shave oil

While I find the AOS unscented shave cream and aftershave balm completely odorless, the pre-shave oil has a pleasant but subtle all-spice/nutmeg scent. Has anyone else noticed this? I actually quite like it, and wouldn't mind a whole line with this scent.....I just don't really understand why they would call this "unscented"...other than that, I like the product and feel that I get closer shaves with less irritation utilizing AOS's pre-shave oils.

I recently tried a sample of the Unscented pre-shave oil. I did notice the scent (in addition to what you mentioned, perhaps clove?). I liked it and thought it was a very nice oil.

I'm not sure what the rest of the unscented line is like, but I have used their Sandalwood and Lavender creams. I didn't really care for either of them. I still use the Sandalwood aftershave balm, which is nice.

Yes i also notice it, and was a little puzzled because I thought that it was unscented, and yes it smells kind of spicy, but cant tell what it is. Works great thou, I bought the $100 shaving kit(badger brush, shaving cream tub, oil, and ASB), with the scent of lavender..Smells fantastic!!! Also have a tub of the sandalwood & unscented shaving cream with ASB, both really excellent products you really cant go wrong...:thumbup1:

I tried for quite a while to remember where i had smelled that "unscented" smell of their oil before. Then it hit me one day. If you have ever smelled the original Tattoo Goo in the tin before it is an exact scent match. So I searched for the ingredients for the Tattoo Goo and found that it has lavendar, rosemary, and clove in it. Maybe that combination makes up the smell?

Check my review. I HATED the pre-shave. I promise you it makes a worse shave than not applying anything at all. It smells of something, defeating the definition of unscented. It's goo-like tendency and cloying effect made it intolerable; it's ability to make my razor pull skin on the third pass made it unusable.

It's funny how the shaving cream works so well but the pre-shave from the same line falls on deaf ears (at least according to the other reviews).

Maybe they should market it, as "no additional scent added"? I think the scent is a result of the oils themselves not being scent free. The scent reminded me of pine trees, and I found it quite unpleasant.

+1

I had a sample of the AOS Unscented Pre-shave oil, and found it to be entirely worthless: it's way too thick, and really gunks up your razor. Even more so considering the high cost it sells for.

You can mix your own pre-shave oil for next to nothing, if you were so inclined. The profit margin on the Pre-shave oil must be off the charts!! In my opinion though, pre-shave oils are fully unnecessary.
