AOS Sandalwood full price vs. refill puck

I've been debating picking up an AOS sandalwood soap or cream, I actually brought one of my shave bowls into AOS since I know one of the guys in our local store and I work in the mall part time. The puck itself fits nearly perfect in one of my antique bowls, but I don't have a lid for it. I'm wondering if people have any recommendations as if this soap dries out too much without a lid or if I can save myself the $20 for a wooden bowl with top and just pickup the refill. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!

I cannot speak to this AOS soap, but when I started out I didn't have a bowl with a lid and mysoap kept just fine. If I were on a budget, I'd have no second thoughts about only buying a refill puck.

I have a puck of AOS Sandalwood soap. I placed it in a small clear glass bowl without lid two months ago. I use the soap 3-4 times a week with no issues. I would save the money and not purchase their wood bowl.

Their wood bowls are insanely expensive. I bought their refill pucks and put them into plastic travel tubs from WCS. It works perfect, plus they stack very easily. If you don't have any, you can always put them into small Pyrex bowls.

Helzerr,

You are going to enjoy that soap. I have Mike's Natural, AOS Sandalwood, and DR Harris soaps in my rotation right now. When I want a perfect lather, I turn to my AOS soap.

I'm currently using Ogallalla Bay Rum shaving stick, green Proraso tube, and a tub of the newer Proraso oatmeal soap. It's so easy to build a lather with! I have found that I get a better lather from the bay rum when I face lather and add a touch of the green Proraso tube to my brush. I'm excited to pick up the AOS puck now!

Nice one! $35 for 3 ounces of soap might sting the pocketbook a bit, but you'll have no regrets from a shaving standpoint. Enjoy!

Or part time Apple employee in the mall = 10% discount!
$27+tax+$0.99 target bowl = a really good shave tonight.

This lathered well, smelled great, and yielded no knicks over 3 passes. I would guess I had enough left in my brush for another 1 or 2 passes if I needed it.

Cheers!
