Anyone test their water's PH?

I believe that after a year or so, we are all "Eric Claptons" and can lather any soap and get a good lather (just like Eric Clapton can play a $20 'made in the worst factory in the worst part of China' guitar and still make it sound great).

We all comment about water hardness, but I wonder if there is any issue with PH? I keep African Cichlids, so I know my water's PH is about 8.0. I have absolutely NO trouble lathering any soap with the exception of a crappy farmer's market soap. This includes the dreaded Williams. I've been using soap and a brush for 15 years.

So why is it that someone can say they can't lather Trumper, DR Harris, Cade, or any other quality soap? I don't think they're lying.... I just don't get it. :001_huh:

Maybe the secret is the PH?

That seems awful high. Have you tested it again after letting it sit uncovered for a day?

Mine's 6.5

It's tested from water in the aquarium. I do 18% water changes every week.

Many on the cichlid board have really high or low PH straight from the tap.

Waste from the fish will change the ph of the water that they are in. That's the reason that water has to be changed out in aquariums. If you are testing for shaving, then check it straight from the tap.
