Anyone know of substitute for the Old Parker Penman Sapphire Ink?

The Parker Penman Sapphire blue was my favorite ink formany years, and I had stocked up before it became generally unavailable. I amdown to my last unopened bottle and feel like saving it for special writing occasions.I would really like to find a currently available ink with color and sheen asclose to the Parker Sapphire as possible.

Notorious for clogging pens, also rumoured to contain metallic particles and even uranium (??) this German made ink went out of production around 2001.

Here's an interesting article (blog) about substitutes. I've got some 2004 Supershow blue, if you want I can get you a sample Chuck.

Thank you for offer of sample Nemo, but I have already ordered a bottle of DC Supershow Blue and expect to have it next week. I did have more issues with clogging with my last opened bottle of Penman Sapphire, but though it was just getting old. Uranium?? - maybe that is why they stopped making it (it was popular a dozen years ago).

I have Aurora Blue as one of my frequently used inks, but it is not as bright IMHO as the Parker Sapphire.

Let us know how the DC Supershow Blue compares to the Sapphire. I know you can still find the Penman Ebony Ink, but I have not seen the Sapphire Blue for awhile.

I got my first bottle of Private Reserve DC Supershow blue and compared it to the discontinued Parker Penman Sapphire. Very close in saturation and color. Added bonus is that the PR DC Supershow blue seems to have better flow. If I look very close the PR may be just a tad darker.
Overall, I am very pleased with this currently available ink to replace my old favorite! Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm going to try Noodler's Luxury Blue and Noodler's Upper Ganges Blue as a substitute for Penman Sapphire because I want a permanent, waterproof ink.

Aurora's blue is similar. Give it a try.

I used both Penman Sapphire (last bottle ran out last year) and Aurora Blue. Both inks are somewhat similar indeed.

In the meantime, my tastes in inks have changed. I am back to where I once started; old fashioned looking blues and blue blacks.

But if you like Penman Sapphire, you probably like Aurora Blue as well. It is a bit more purplish, but has the same saturation level.
