This site (which sells many of the same blades as Ted Pella) has 100 "Double Edge Platinum Coated" blades for 16 bucks (plus about $7 shipping).

What brand are these? Also, are they suitable for shaving?

I don't know of anyone who has bought DE blades from EMS.

It's certainly unlikely that EMS has some sort of captive supplier, given the costs of tooling and production machinery. The most likely suspect is


wait for it...


American Safety Razor (Personna brand). They have a division called Personna Medical that deals in blades specifically for non-consumer use.

So far, the Gem style and injector blades from EMS seem fine.

it's an Israeli Super+ Platinum (the "Israeli Personna"):

Note the same paper wrapping. They are very appropriate for shaving (one of my favorites), but you can get them for the same amount at other places (they are also known as "Crystals," and West Coast Shaving has a good deal on them).

Oh sweet. I would have never expected anyone to make out any details from such a small thumbnail. Thanks! I've heard about the Israeli Personna blades, this looks like it may be a pretty good find. Although, yeah. I think you may be right about the price though.

I've seen the Super+Platinums "buy it now" on ebay for about $18 shipped (to US). Should be a few dollars cheaper than EMS.
