Anyone had any experience with these Astra Platinum II Cartridges?

Manufactured by Gillette in Poland with no lubrication strip. I've never seen them before.

No, but a promising find and I hate lube strips. I'll have to try them once the sabbatical ends.

Okay so I have taken delivery of 50 of these Astra Platinum II cartridges (after 4 weeks shipping time) and have had my first shave with one. First off the cartridge looks identical to the Gillette Trac II Plus cartridges except that it has no lubricating strip and they are both made in Poland by Gillette so I guess that makes sense. As for the shave it was quite okay but I fancy that the Astra cartridge feels a little lighter somehow. The noise it makes is as it scrapes off the whiskers is little higher pitched. Maybe the blades are a slightly thinner or maybe it's just the difference the lube strip makes. Anyway they are definitely not a throwback to the cartridges of old as the two 5 star reviews on Amazon would lead you to believe. But they do the job and for the price they are quite acceptable.

I really enjoy the Dorco 2 blade carts if you want a cheap alternative to astra gillette razors.
