Any way to get rid of Tabac scent, keep performance?

I got myself a puck of MWF strictly because I wasn't too fond of Tabac scent, but my curiosity is getting the best of me and now I'm considering getting some Tabac just to really give it a try...

so the question is: is there a way to make the scent less or mellow it out somehow so that I could keep the performance?

Get a puck of CADE instead....mucho better scent and performance.

Actually if you put TABAC in a mug and leave it open for a few months the stench reduces somewhat. However I still think the best approach is to buy CADE or PdP instead.

I like Cade as well but I'd suggest Speick or Cella as replacements for Tabac - great, inexpensive tallow based soaps.

I have smelled the Moos as well and also fing it quite repugnant. I already own Cade and find it to be fantastic (as is MWF), but I just can't shake this voice in my head saying Tabac lather is better...

I have been thinking about Speick and/or Palmolive shave stick. I know the Palmolive is tallow, but is the speick still tallow? I know I like the Speick smell.

Speick Stick is tallow based....Vastly superior in scent to tabac and lather is excellent too.

No sense wasting money on the stench...Tabac is way overrated here.

I have exactly the same problem. I have been using a vintage Old Spice puck that I found at a garage sale. Naturally, wanting to store up enough soap for the shavepocalypse I bought a puck of Tabac, but haven't been brave enough to open it. Just the scent of the box drives me away.

So I had my wife buy me two sticks of Moos in Germany. Same problem, the aroma is way too weird for my delicate nose.

How about massively overrated here. :)

Could be. But you have to give Maurer & Wirtz (as well as the other tallow soap makers) credit for not reformulating.... yet, anyway.
If it comes to pass that Tabac is the only non-artisan tallow soap left standing, scent be damned and hoard away :001_cool:

well the way i see it is that, i can live with the scent, but we're talking about shaving here! why should i just live with something? isn't complete and total enjoyment and luxury, both in performance and olfaction, what we're all after?

I acquired from an antique shop a vintage bakerlite shave stick container. Absolutely stank as I cleaned out the old soap remains. I have identified the scent or smell as Tabac and still having no success of eliminating the strong odour from the container.
Quickly reminded me why I never used Tabac in my younger days!
