I have been a member of the Beer Judge Certification Program (www.bjcp.org) for some time, and I was wondering if any other members out there are BJCP beer judges as well.
Yes, I took the exam back in Febuaury. My results came in, but they went to my parents house (I was in the middle of a move), and their house burned down a few weeks ago, so I don't know how I did.
I did a study course with about 20 guys from my club when I lived in Cleveland. We met at Great Lakes every week. There was a good mix of homebrewers, some local pro brewers and a few National and Grand Master level people involved, so everyone learned a whole lot.
I studied a lot, but it was still one of the hardest exams I've taken.
You can go online at BJCP.org and your results will be almost certainly posted by now. I re-wrote the tasting portion (not the written, thank goodness) in May, and my results came in last week by e-mail.
I've judged at around 15 comps, but never taken the exam. When I had the time and money, it was never given in the area. Think I'd probably do ok, but I understand it's a difficult exam.
