Dear Members:

Q. What are your plans this Oktoberfest (time to 'break-out' your Lederhosen, Loferl soaks, Haferl shoes, Trachten Hats & Dirndl dresses)

BTW...the Mrs. and I will be in the downtown Lake Charles, LA area for this years Oktoberfest.

No specific plans but there are several Oktoberfest events held at various locations in London including one near my Canary Wharf office

I shall also be using German only shaving products for the whole month.

I have a couple of hats but none with a Gamsbart. Also they have a tendency to get lost after a long day, or so I’ve heard….

I have family in Munich and Northern Germany. Last year, I broke my shoulder falling down a hill in Munich by Lerchenauer See on the way back to my air bnb. I am taking this year off. I did not drink heavily very often before that, and haven't since, but I haven't made any vows about it. Next year, plans seem to be materializing for something in Holstein. I am not sure what festivals are there, but I am likely to find out.

Nah same set as on the pic from last year. That’s the good thing about Tracht it doesn’t goes out of fashion.

Back in 2006 I had a mate living in Munich, and I spent a week there, we went to the Weisn every day bar one, we needed a small respite so we went to Nuremberg for the day (and had a couple of beers at a bierkeller near Albert Drurer's statue). Great atmosphere everyday, luckily I still have some photos to prove it...

The world's 2nd biggest Oktoberfest is in Kitchener Ontario. I have seen it, and it is something. I was told that it was called Berlin until 1916. Why, I wonder.
