Any non-alcohol beer drinkers?

I've tried a few, the only ones I will drink now are Clausthaler, and St. Paulie Girl. Becks is ok, and O'Doul's just seems to be real carbonated.

Ocassionally. I haven't found one that has any flavor. Kind of like the proverbial... "Like kissing your sister".

I used to not drink and I loved Kaliber & Buckler non-beers ;)
Ditto on the Buckler. I tested all I could find to decide which one so make available in my Brewpub restaurant. Buckler has the closest resemblance to something that could be called beer. More like kissing a half sister.

I have a few friends who do not drink alcoholic beverages but will drink non-alcoholic beer. Out of respect for their decision, I will have a non-alcoholic beer with them If I choose to do so. The only ones that I will keep on hand are Clausthaler Amber and St. Pauli Girl but mostly Clausthaler Amber. I gave one to a regular beer drinker by accident and he raved about it and was very surprised to find that it was non-alcoholic and he is a very discriminating beer drinker. I have only purchased craft beers for more than twenty years so I do like a fine beer and these are not bad.

Regards,

Doug

I moved to NA's to drop alcohol from my diet and save calories this summer (hell of summer to do that...). Agree on Clausthaler Amber and frankly, O'Doul's isn't bad. Obviously not the real thing but on par with going to skim milk from regular milk when you first make the transition. You get used to it.

Does ginger beer count?

As long as it is labled "beer" Birch beer should count, and root beer too!

Unfortunately for me the last few beers I have had the hangover started before I finished the beer, and lasted the entire next day. Hard way to give up such a wonderful beverage.

Becks makes the worst non-alcoholic beer I've ever had.

Look for Erdinger Blue label, its a non-alcoholic german wheat beer.

One thing that really strikes me when I travel to Spain is the huge amount of Sin Beer (sin meaning 'without'). Everywhere you go you can order various sin beers. They are all just lagers, but as it's hot and I'm usually the one driving I really appreciate these tasty options over soda. And unlike Becks they actually taste like beer!

Not a fan of the non alcoholic beers as they are mostly lagers and I prefer a real ale!

On the other hand, over here in Britain we can get a low alcohol "hard" cider as you'd call it over the pond. Made properly by Weston's cider in Herefordshire it actually does taste like cider but is only 1% so handy when you fancy something apart from a soft drink. It's also available as an own brand bottle in several of our main supermarkets, when it's in a bigger bottle and costs less!

Often take a bottle or two when I go out playing for the morris so I can drive back afterwards! Sidmouth folk festival this weekend so I must get a couple more in.

I didn't care for any non alcoholic beers I've sampled. Beck's Alcohol Free was probably the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life that claimed to have any resemblance to beer.

If I can't drink and I'm in a social situation, I go for carbonated water every time. Honestly, a Perrier or San Pellegrino has more flavour than an O'Douls. The mouthfeel and refreshment factor of mineral waters are much better, in my opinion.

I've been thinking about brewing a table beer at around 2% that I can drink fairly indiscriminately - to accompany meals or to enjoy in situations where I do not want to feel any effects of alcohol. That would be a far cry from the 9% Belgian tripels that I am usually drinking!

I tried Warsteiner Alkoholfrei last week ... that actually does not taste bad (for an non-alcohol "beer").

Other non-alcohol "beers" that I tried:

Palm: drinkable, but too expensive for what you get (25cl bottle content, but 33cl bottle price tag)
Grolsch: drinkable, but a far cry from real Grolsch pilsner
Wieckse: does not taste like Weizenbier at all, but more like citron lemonade
Amstel Radler "alcoholvrij": citron lemonade
Warsteiner: has the bitter taste of a real pilsner, but not the same as the real deal ... not bad though
Heineken: no real beer taste, I don't like it
Krombacher: citron lemonade

My take:

O'Doul's - Not bad. Tastes like an american lager with a lot of carbonation
O'Doul's Amber - Not Bad. Tastes like a very light american amber.
Clausthaler - Good. Similar to Heinekin
Clausthaler Amber - Good. Similar to Amstel Light
Beck's - Reminds me of Moosehead
Buckler - Slight Metallic taste. Maybe like Dos Equis?
St. Pauli Girl - Tastes a little sour / skunky
Kalibur - Closest thing to a dark NA. Very carbonated.
Busch - Tastes about like you would expect it to. Nuff Said.

I've heard good things about the Paulaner, Erdinger, and Gerstel beers, but Total Wine and Bevmo are always out of stock when I check for them. I wonder if that means they're good.
