What's new

Any info on this Kamisori?

I just picked this up since it appears to be NOS - and probably as good a blade as any to try out the Kamisori experience. From my own limited research - this appears to be a decent Kamisori; but if anyone has anymore info on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

The blurb that was with it...

"VINTAGE 1960s AZUMA STRAIGHT RAZOR. This japanese kamiroi has not been used and comes to you just as you see it below with all the wrappings. The total length including the handle is 15cm, the actual edge is 4.5cm long, the handle itself is 8.5cm long. "

Thanks!

I have a Yasuki steel Kami. They have been in business a long time (pre-war) and seem to have a good reputation. They started stamping the Kamis with English a long time ago (I don't have the exact date but was told it was also pre-war ). My copy is a good shaver and was super easy to get ready.

It was old enough to have gathered rust in the handle. The seller said it was early Showa period (sometime between 1928 and the war) but he tended to exaggerate things so who knows - it could have been early 80s ;-}. I trashed the handle and put on my own. You can see the rust pits in the picture below. Fortunately, the blade was in very good shape.

I suspect you will enjoy your new razor!
