Any Futur lovers out there?

I own two safety razors: A Merkur 33C and recently (since Christmas) a Merkur Futur. Man, I love this thing. Its not a perfect razor but is a BIG improvement over the 33C. Had I known how much I was going to like it, I would have gotten it first!

I was a little nervous b/c I read negative things about adjustable safety razors and had read numerous posts about the aggressiveness of the Futur, but this has not been my experience at all. It shave smoothly and comfortably each time I use it (with my Feather blade!)

Anyone else out there love this razor? Also, if you were recommending a future razor in addition to the two I have, what would you recommend next?

I also love the Futur. It always does a great job and I keep it in the rotation.

For another razor, how about a vintage Gillette TTO model? I have a FatBoy, Slim, Red Tip, and Aristocrat and love all of them. They give you a different shave experience from a Futur.

A razor I just keep going back to is the EJ DE89L. It always gives me a wonderful shave!

If you like the Futur, you would probably like the Barber Pole Slant.

My top three are the Barber Pole Slant, the Futur and the 1912 style GEM razors. I'm using an Open Comb Micromatic since Thursday, and am loving the shaves from it.

Which is something else you might want to consider - the Single Edge razors give great, smooth, comfortable shaves.

My first DE was a Futur so I hold it in high esteem. The acoustics are amazing. People complain about the handle being too slick, but I never had a problem with it. Gripping it by the notch always seemed right. I always appreciated the blade cap. It made blade alignment a piece of cake for a noob. I have since sold it and moved on to straights, but I'll always remember it. My dad has one so when I visit, I'll borrow it for old time's sake.

I love the Futur. It's been an incredible upgrade from the Parker 96r that I started with.

I really want to be a Futur lover as I think it's a really nice razor. The problem is that I love my Merkur 39C slant and I already own several other razors. Perhaps I need to purchase one to check it out.

If you want to add a Merkur, get the LONG HANDLED Progress - elegant, my flagship razor (out of a fleet nearing 75).

Futur was my first DE razor 3-4 years ago. I still have it and alternate with a slant, both with feather blades. The only negative is that shaving under your nose takes a while to get used to with that head.

BTW mark-mw - where did you get that safety sleeve, or is it home made? Been looking for something like that for when I travel.

I have a futur and have been using if for almost three years now. It is nice. I have no complaints. Only thing I can compare it to is a vintage Gillette adjustable I got from my old man. Probably a mid sixties model. Unfortunately the Gillette is damaged so I can't really use it anymore. But the Futur is going strong. I have never has issued with the grip or changing the blade. I find you have to pay a little more attention to what you are doing with the Futur or you will get nicked, but that is just practice.

Used my Futur for today's shave - set at 5 - 2 passes, no pressure, NO CUTS!
The weight does the work! Great results....will have to use it more often

I love my Futur- it was my first DE razor and I am still very happy with it. I have since added a Merkur 11C (I like the idea of a short handle and open-comb) and for my next razor I am considering a Pils and an EJ

Yes, I like my Futur a lot. It quickly became my favorite razor.

I'd go with an open comb, Slant, or straight razor for my next purchase. Personally, I went with a straight.

The futur is my favourite razor, nothing else compares.
Under the nose takes a little getting used to but besides from that I gives me the best shave out of all the razors I have tried.
As for your next razor, the futur comes in gold, chrome, and satin

My Futur is my favorite razor and I use it probably 80% of the time. The only razor that comes close is my 1962 Gillette Adjustable. Nothing in my meager collection is better than the Futur.

I use for my travels a dovo leather case I bought and it gives me a great result and is also elegant.

In the other hand, the Futur is the second razor a own after a Weishi so you can imagine how big has the quality improvement been.
