What's new

Another what to get in London thread.

My wife is going to London next week and I'm making my shopping list.
What's on my list so far:
- Pen's BB EdT
- DR. Harris Arlington shaving soap
- Trumpers shaving soap (still deciding on the scent though)
- Floris 89 shaving soap

Now I have some questions.
- Is there an Art of Shaving shop in London? I still have to try their soap.
- Are most shops generous to give samples? I would like to try the colognes of Pen's and Floris for example before handing over my cash to them.
- What could you advise me for other higher end colognes that match with spring/summer time?

- What should she look for in the groceries or drug stores for AS and shaving soaps/sticks?
I believe Pashana is common but is it any good?

I' m 99% sure that there is no AOS store in London, but you can order AOS products through amazon.uk.com...

General observation: there is not one country in Europe that comes even close to England for shaving accessories and other luxury goods for men (with the exception of Italian clothing I suppose). B&Bers keep asking "I'm going to country X, what should I buy?" The sad fact is, unless X=UK, the answer is, basically: "nothing". I assume that the continuing UK ascendancy can be traced to the explosion of prosperity during the late Victorian era. But how can it have lasted this long, almost one and one-half centuries? England's empire is long gone, and the country today has sunk into the pan-European roadside ditch of semi-prosperous democracy and lowest-common-denominator cultural rot. And yet the three T's still hold their own on Jermyn Street! My guess is that they stay afloat thanks to visiting Americans. Keep on coming, guys!
