Another Sheraton restore: a testament to maas

So I bought another unlabeled Sheraton in the case from eBay for 30 something dollars and it looked rough... I was just gonna put one of my restored sheratons in it but 3 mins of rubbing with maas did wonders and now it's my best quality Sheraton!

It's much shinier in person

So now I'm gonna sell my other sheratons and keep this one!

Wow I never thought you could polish gold plating. Are the silo
doors just polished brass now or is there gold plating left?

Those doors are down to the brass but they still look gorgeous. I love the Sheraton, I have 2, one with the plating in tact and another that is down to the brass that I use in my regular rotation.

It's still gold I have 5 sheratons, one is brasses out and this color matches all the gold ones.. I think it was cruded on shave soap because it didn't feel like tarnish coming off.. It was thick like caked on something

Sorry my bad. I was just basing my opinion on what it looks like to me in the pictures you posted. Here is a picture of mine that I referenced to base my opinion.

To my eyes yours looks more like mine on the right which is down to the brass. I could be wrong, I usually am. In any case I love the Sheraton with or without the plating in tact.

It's either that or they polished it to brass on the whole razor... But yeah it's still gold as far as I can tell... Pic makes it look lighter

Great cleanup. An easy way to tell, if it tarnishes then it's down to brass. Gold won't tarnish but brass will darken and develop a patina over time.

Looks like there's no gold left on the doors to me. Better, yes. Restored, no.

Nice! I just got a Sheraton that's supposedly down to brass on the outer side of the doors and still has the gold plating on the inner side. But the outer and inner sides of the doors are the same color to me. I guess I'll just have to see if they tarnish. The handle on mine is copper colored, so I won't be surprised if the gold is gone from the head. I'd think if there's really brass exposed, it won't take long for it to lose its sheen and reveal itself, especially in low places where it won't get rubbed during cleanup. Nice razor you've got!

What's maas, by the way?
